What is MacroMan?

Welcome all! On my blog i will attempt to show how you can cut down all those keys required to play your favorite character in wow, using Macros that YOU too can use as you level up,and eventually get to the endgame..You will find here lots of screenshots, videos and explanations of how to do this.Feel free to have a browse around.

Macros can be used for all sorts of things from casting spells to emotes and using trinkets etc.
If you've never used or wrote macros before,it may seem a little complicated, but i hope to show you here how to get up and running and writing your own macros before you know it.

I will make a disclaimer and say i do not claim to be the world's expert on putting these macros together, but usually what comes out at the end works for me and should i hope work for you.

I use 2 types of macros, priority macros and castsequence macros and a little combination of both.
Also most of my macros rely on a macro extender ( most macros using the ingame macros will only allow you to use 255 characters/letters to make your macro)

There are several Macro extender addons you can use, such as macrobox, macro toolkit etc,i personally use bindpad (click here to download addon)

Bindpad  Download

And will be using bindpad here for most of the examples.

Using Bindpad - Getting started
When you have downloaded Bindpad extract the zipped addon and go to your main wow folder
Find the "interface" folder open that and then open the "addon" folder and copy paste the bindpad folder into it.(If your not sure how to add addons to your game try this guide) guide to adding addons

Now start the game

Click in the chat bar or press return/enter on your keyboard and type in "/bindpad"
This will bring up a box similar to below.Yours will be blank.
Along the top General will have your common use macros, then the next tab has your character specific macros, then page 2 and page 3 which you can use for more macros..

Now click on your character specific tab and click one of the boxs with a "+" on it..And you should see something like below.
Type a Name for your macro so you know what it is,and click one of the icons below to represent your macro, you will then see the icon appear on the left side..click ok to close the box.

To edit the macro "right click your mouse " on the icon you just made and you should see another box appear like below.

This is where the magic happens, and your macros will be put together..
When you are finished, you should have a macro looking a bit like below(just an example)

Your macro is now ready to use,but we need to bind it/place it on a key to press,so press exit.

Now hover your mouse pointer over the icon/macro you just made and this time "press the Left mouse button"..and you will see another box appear like below.

Now move your mouse into the large box and press a key you would like to bind your macro too..this can be any key on your keyboard..as you can see i pressed the middel mouse button for this macro..so when i press it this macro will run..once you have chosen..press exit..you may also now close the bindpad addon if you wish by pressing the cross/ x in the top right corner..you can now go ahead and test your new macro.
If you wish to retry editing your macro again just type "/bindpad" and then Right click on the icon..
And that is how you use this addon...and where you will be able to copy/paste the macros i will produce if you wish to have a go with them yourself..

Keybinds

For every wow character i make,i try to keep my MAIN keybinds the same within reason.
I use W= forward  S=backward A=left D=right

Now for bindpad i want the least amount of keys to be pressing and i have about 4 keybind keys that i always use...

The MAIN offensive macro i use,i bind with bindpad to the MIDDLE MOUSE KEY
Most classes have something like roll for monks or blink for mages, these i bind to key Q.
I usually have a Second offensive macro this i bind to key E.
And normally i use key F as a buff key or extra spells key.
Most other keys are situational..but the above ones mainly stay the same..

As an example here was an old layout of my beast master setup..more keys than i use now but it gives an idea.

So whats the plan?

The plan is to level through several characters and along the way give you the player, macros through out the leveling process from 1 to the present cap of level 90.
I personally tend to quest less now and mainly focus on dungeons and pvp to level up from 10 to 85.
At 85 i move over to Pandaria do the first few quests and then i pvp and dungeon, along with a couple of grinding areas i have found that give nice exp along the way.
Gearwise i tend to use the Auction house every level or so ( depending on gold) to upgrade.
At 60 or so i try to get the honor pvp gear..and 60 to 85..i will get the odd enchant and do reforgeing, but in general won't gem much until i hit 90 as i think its a waste of gold, and even ungemmed etc..i still am able to compete at a playable level..
Here on this blog i will provide a character page and post all the macros you will need to level up to 90.
I am in the process of setting up a twitch live stream, and will try to stream a couple of hours when i am not at work and more at weekends.
I have moved from kilrogg to silvermoon eu which is a much more active realm and the first character i am going to go with is a Mage.Frost mage.
I have already leveled her to level 10 and her name is MacroMiss :)

To follow the Process and see all the info as we level please go to the Mage section at the top of this page..
